Kelsey’s love for the arts and the craft of tattooing began at a very young age. She starting drawing the moment she could hold a pencil. It was in fifth grade when she knew she wanted to be a tattoo artist, so she continued on that journey taking every art class in school that was available.
After Kelsey graduated high school in 2008, she landed a tattooing apprenticeship which was the first important piece to the very complex puzzle she had in her mind. As much as she was learning about the application and technique of tattooing, she was curious of the canvas she was working on and what was happening below the surface. She decided to take it a step further and enrolled in the Esthetic Program at Paul Mitchell School of Cosmetology. After working as a licensed esthetician and tattoo artist for four years, Kelsey decided to merge to two careers together becoming a Certified Permanent Makeup Artist in 2016. She fell in love with the gratifying services that came with permanent makeup and took the jump into her dream of opening an all female tattoo shop.
In 2017, Vanity Ink Studios came to life. Kelsey worked solo for years building her clientele and reputation to become to go-to shop for cosmetics. In 2021, she moved her business into a large store front that now houses five successful and talented female permanent makeup artists.
For the entirety of her career, Kelsey met and grew client relationships with incredible women battling cancer. With cancer personally impacting her family, her heart sank with these beautiful women and wanted to give them back confidence and a sense of normalcy to their lives. Kelsey began offering her brow services to clients with cancer free of charge. She decided to take it a step further.
For the last year she has been studying under the mentorship of Stacie- Rae Weir of A.R.T. School. Stacie-Rae has paved the way of Areola Restorative Tattooing for mastectomies, breast lifts and top surgeries. There truly is no one better to learn this special service from. Kelsey is motivated to become an expert in her field and hopes that one day she will also be able to offer this service free of charge as well.
In attempt to make that dream a reality, she launched a Venmo account specifically dedicated to accept donations from generous people to help clients battling cancer, past or current, pay for their cosmetic and paramedical services.
